Advanced 2D Animation: Pre-Production

In my advanced 2D animation class at school, we are working on a semester-long project: a 30 second animation in Adobe Flash. My original idea was somewhat morbid in the sense that it did not have a happy ending. I wanted to do this because animation is a form of art, and the purpose of art is to evoke emotion; whether that be happiness, anger, jubilance, sadness, etc.

On March 14th, 2014, my family and I suffered the loss of one of our own. A father, a son, a husband, a brother, and to me, my Uncle, Robert Henry. Coping with this loss has taken its toll on my family and family friends to say the least. While it has been hard for me to talk about, I have decided to use all of this emotion and despair as a way to propel myself and my work to create something that (I hope) will be truly beautiful.

This is my pre-production work for my SJSU ANI115 2D animation:
